Ornament demonstrations: October of 2006 and November of 2004 |
Though they may appear similar, each ornament I turn is unique. The globes are hollowed to keep it's weight to a
minimum. The finial on top, and the "icicle" on the bottom are usually turned from a straight grained, contrasting wood (typically walnut or maple, however, exotic wood species may be used if they fit
the style of the ornament). The ornaments I create are not dyed or stained, the natural color of the wood is allowed to show thru. Each ornament is finished 4 or more coats of a hand rubbed oil
finish. |
