Vern Nolting was our member demonstrator for the month of November. 

Vern's demonstration was tops.  Standard tops, inverting tops, and tops where a string is pulled to get a higher velocity.

Turning begins with the workpiece between centers on the lathe to true it up and get a circular workpiece. Excess material is then removed and the shape of the top comes to life.The top is then parted off, and tried out to see if it functions correctly.
