Hollowing Tools

The meeting was brought to order and general business was discussed.

Discussion of the Mid-Winter Woodturning event was discussed.  It will be on Saturday, January 24th from 9:30 am to about 3:00 pm. The location is at Baker Nursery, in the greenhouse. Baker Nursery is located at 2733 University Drive South in Fargo. Topics will include thin wall turning, offset turning, pens, basic bowls, hollowing, eggs, boxes, texturizing, finishing, spindles, sharpening, and some hands on with some of the tools from Tool Day.  Lunch and coffee will be provided!

Jim McTavish brought examples of the tools for Toolday and orders were taken.  Remember, you have until January 24th to get your orders in to Jim.  Toolday will be at MSUM in Hagen Hall on February 21st, 2009 from 9:00 AM until we are done.  Lunch will be provided!

No camera was brought to the meeting, so our appologies on the lack of photos of the demo and the show and tell.

Ryan demonstrated the hollowing tools we will be making at Toolday this year.  He showed the straight handle tools that use the 3/4" boring bars we make, the mini hollowing tools, and the Texas Toothpick.  After the demo, members were encouraged to come and try the tools.  Several members can and added to their tool order after trying out the Texas Toothpicks!
